Starting tonight, Rector hosts its annual Labor Day Picnic activities. The event is one of the Arkansas Delta’s long-time favorites.

Tonight features a rodeo at the Saddle Club beginning at 8 p.m. A dance at the Rector Downtown Park is slated for Saturday at 6 p.m. Sunday’s events start at 2 p.m. with the Miss Rector Pre-Teen Pageant, followed by the Jr. Miss Rector Pageant and an Ice Cream Social at 6 p.m. in the downtown park.

Monday, Labor Day, kicks off with the parade at 9 a.m. Beginning at 10 a.m., the carnival opens and there’s a performance by the Rector High School Band. Political speeches, a long-time staple of the event, begin at 10:20. The reminder of the morning’s events includes the presentation of the oldest person and longest-married couple in attendance, a pageant for babies ages six months to 24 months, and a toddlers pageant for ages 2-4. Live entertainment from the stage begins at 4 p.m. and the youth talent contest begins at 4:45. Armbands for unlimited carnival rides will be available from 5-9 p.m. The Miss Rector Labor Day pageant starts at 8 p.m.
