Hot air balloons and live music are on the agenda this weekend ( September 27-28) in Hot Springs. The Legends Balloon Rally takes place at Hot Springs Memorial Field Airport on Highway 70 West. Country legend Travis Tritt and classic rock band Styx are the headliners for the festival.
Styx will perform Friday night and Tritt will perform Saturday evening. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Tritt, who has won two Grammys, is best known for his country hits “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” and “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares).”
Styx have been rockers since the 1970s, with hits such as “Come Sail Away” and “Mister Roboto.”
This year will feature two balloon-glows after sunset in addition to other entertainment. The rally also showcases 25 of the top hot-air balloon pilots in the nation. Balloons are piloted by a veteran balloonist with no less than 300 hours experience. Competition balloon flights are set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 7:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Balloon Glows are at 7 each night and the concerts start afterwards at 8.
Admission to the festival is free but of note, there are no balloon rides offered there and no pets or coolers allowed in. Also, remember to bring your lawn chairs to enjoy the music!
