Museum Monday: Arkansas Heritage Month

I’ve loved museums my entire life…and after working in one for 10 years, that love only grew stronger. On Mondays, I will share some of my favorite museums located within the 26 counties of eastern Arkansas.

Monday is here again! I hope you had a great weekend. The weather was absolutely beautiful!

Today’s Museum Monday blog encompasses museums from across The Natural State. May is Heritage Month in Arkansas. Each May, the Department of Arkansas Heritage observes a month-long celebration of the culture, history, and traditions that make our state unique. Museums, historical sites and communities throughout Arkansas observe Heritage Month with a series of special exhibits, lectures and programs.

This year’s Heritage Month theme is
Roads Less Traveled: The Enduring Heritage of Rural Arkansas. You can click here to see an entire list of special events across Arkansas being held in conjunction with Heritage Month.

There are also special teacher summer workshops being held over the next few months using the same theme. In fact, this Saturday, May 15, I’ll be participating in one of these educator workshops in historic Helena. You can find out more information on these workshops and sign up for the events by clicking here.

The history of Arkansas is absolutely fascinating. Take the opportunity this month to find out more about YOUR Arkansas heritage!

Have a great week!
