“Oklahoma!” Comes to Jonesboro

Step back in time to the place “where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain” and Laurey and Curly fall in love.

“Oklahoma!” is the Foundation of Arts of Northeast Arkansas’s next community theatre production. Performances are scheduled for June 25-28 and will be held at the Forum Theatre in Jonesboro at 115 E. Monroe.

“Oklahoma!” was the first musical by written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The original Broadway production opened in March 1943 and ran for an amazing 2,212 performances. The musical was adapted for the “silver screen” in 1955 and won two Academy Awards.

The score features numerous much-loved songs, including “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” “I Cain’t Say No,” “People Will Say We’re in Love,” and “Oklahoma!”
