Petit Jean

Mather LodgeChange is good. Change that retains historic treasures is even better. That’s just what you’ll see with the renovation of the historic Mather Lodge at Petit Jean State Park near Morrilton.

As of Dec. 1, the lodge has closed and will remain so through 2011 while undergoing renovation. I know that seems like a long time, but here’s what will be worth the wait. This renovation will replace the lodge’s 1960s-era dining room with a more rustic-style design, expand the kitchen, add a 75 person conference room, relocate the guest registration desk, and construct a new lodge swimming pool at the same spot where current one is located near the guest rooms. Public restrooms, convenient for the park’s many hikers, will be added underneath the pool.

The renovation will not affect any of Mather Lodge’s original Civilian Conservation Corp and Works Progress Administration work dating from the 1930s. For updates, visit
