September Fun in the Arkansas Delta and North Central Ozarks

As fall approaches in The Natural State, there are a plethora of exciting events and festivals to tempt you to get out and about  this September.

 An Arkansas Delta tradition, the 73rd annual Labor Day Picnic in Rector is slated for Sept. 2-3. Held in the city’s Memorial Park, the annual celebration includes games, carnival rides, live entertainment, a parade, beauty pageants, a variety of food, and political speeches. The historic Willam Stone House is the setting for the 21st annual Colt Pioneer Days in Colt on Sept. 7-8. The event offers live entertainment, historical displays, booths, and good food, including the famous beans and cornbread Pioneer Days is known for! Phone 870-633-7588 for more information.

The 32nd annual Maynard Pioneer Days is Sept. 12-15 in Maynard. Held at the Maynard Pioneer Park, the event features entertainment, live music, great food, a craft fair and a pioneer dress contest. Make sure and stop by the Pioneer Museum for a glimpse of life during the late 1800s. The 89th annual Old Folks Singing, featuring live gospel music, will be held on Sept. 16 at the Maynard Methodist Church. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. and also features a potluck luncheon. Helena-West Helena is the site of the 5th annual Delta Dayz on Sept. 15. The event is a fun-filled day of arts, crafts, music and poetry, sponsored by the Arkansas Delta Arts Partnership. Don’t miss the “Delta Dash” art competition! For more information, call 870-338-6474.

The 56th annual Grand Prairie Festival of Arts is being held at the Grand Prairie Center in Stuttgart on Sept. 28-30. The long-time event offers an art, photography, and decorative arts juried show, open to all entries. Call 870-673-7218 to learn more.

Autumn on the Square returns to Marianna on Sept. 29 in the town’s historic downtown square. The 17th annual event offers arts and crafts, live music, a pet parade, food vendors and activities for kids throughout the day. Downtown Newport is the location of the 15th annual Depot Days Festival on Sept. 29. This year’s offerings include arts and crafts, games and activities for kids, magic shows, and live music throughout the day, with scheduled performances by the Kentucky Headhunters, Brandon Giles, Sonny Burgess & the Legendary Pacers, Ace Cannon, J.M.
