Some Arkansas State Parks, Facilities Closed Due to Weather

Jill M. Rohrbach

As the rains continue, it has become necessary to close some Arkansas State Park facilities. These parks are temporarily closed in their entirety — Hampson Museum Archeological State Park, Lake Ouachita State Park, Jacksonport State Park, and Pinnacle Mountain State Park.

As the effects of today’s and tomorrow’s additional rainfall unfold, other park facilities will likely be added to this list.

Parks with “specific facility” temporary closures include Devil’s Den State Park, Lake Catherine State Park, and Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Some facilities at Devil’s Den State Park are currently closed due to flooding and power outages.

The lower portion of Campground Area “C,” the marina, and hiking trails at Lake Catherine State Park are closed temporarily beginning Monday, May 2, due to rising lake levels from heavy rains. The rest of the park facilities remain open. Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge is closed today (May 2) and tomorrow while plumbing contractors make repairs in the park restaurant.
