This Weekend in the Arkansas Delta

Kimberly J. Williams
Happy Wednesday, my blog-reading friends! If you still haven’t made plans for this weekend, there are some great events taking place in the Arkansas Delta!

Downtown Wynne is the site for the 35th annual Farm Fest on June 10-11. The festival features live entertainment, the PBJ Happee Day Carnival, games for kids, arts and crafts and a variety of food vendors. Contact the Cross County Chamber of Commerce at 870-238-4183 for details.

June 11 is the date for the next Full Moon Kayak Tour at Cane Creek State Park in Star City. Full moon tours take on a special magic as the lake and surrounding landscape are bathed in moonlight. A park interpreter will be your guide. No experience is necessary. Fee includes use of a kayak, paddle, and lifejacket. Please contact the park 870-628-4714 for exact times and to make a reservation.

Insects, spiders and bugs…oh, my!! Learn more about some of the least-loved and most misunderstood of the natural world when Lake Frierson State Park in Jonesboro presents “The Wonderful World of Bugs and Spiders” on June 11. Get up close with a tarantula and learn about the mysteries surrounding our multi-legged friends. Phone 870-932-2615 for more information.

Enjoy a day of geocaching at Lake Poinsett State Park in Harrisburg and throughout the region as the park offers Geocaching at the Lake on June 11. A special series of geocaches will be offered during the event and special Arkansas State Park geocoins will be up for grabs! Registration begins at 9 a.m. For details call 870-578-2064.

Remember…wherever you go and whatever you do… be safe!!
