Tuesday Fitness Fix: Tour de Rock

Check here every Tuesday for a
fitness fix rundown. I’ll be on the lookout for running, cycling, tri’s,
adventure races, and other active outlets taking place around the state that I’ll
highlight each week.

This week: Tour de Rock

Zoie Clift

Heads up on a pretty cool
ride- the Tour de Rock, scheduled for June 12.  If you need training motivation, each Saturday, a group of
volunteers host group training rides of varying distances to help prepare
cyclists for the venture. The goal is to introduce cyclists to some different
routes outside of the river trails and to give  an opportunity to ride
in a group atmosphere. More details on the training rides can be found here.

As to the tour, the day
will be packed with riding, BBQ, and live music. Starting at the Burns Park
Soccer Complex in North Little Rock, Tour de Rock includes two separate courses
– the Family Fun Ride across the Big Dam Bridge and a 100-mile Advanced Ride for
the experienced cyclists with turn-arounds at 30, 50 and 62 miles. Race day
registration starts at 6 and the ride starts at 7 a.m. For more details,
