Why Little Rock is a great all-American road trip stop

Nationally recognized travel writer, speaker and broadcast personality Bill Clevlen has included several Little Rock destinations among those in his first-ever 100 Things to Do in America Before You Die “bucket list” travel guide. Clevlen, who has visited Little Rock twice before, calls the city is a “hidden gem” and has highlighted Arkansas and the River Market District, the Museum of Discovery and the ESSE Purse Museum among the many states and stops that he hopes will inspire cross-country road trips.

This isn’t the first time Little Rock has earned an entry in the “100 things” series of travel and activity guides. In 2016, Celia Anderson, a local author and staffer at the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, devoted a whole book to the capital city, selecting 100 activities that would make up the quintessential Little Rock experience for 100 Things to Do in Little Rock Before You Die. (If you follow us on Instagram, you might have seen yours truly in a video challenge to cross off as many of the hundred activities as possible in one day—I crammed in 20 locations between sunrise and sunset!)

To celebrate the book’s release, Clevlen will be in town August 10-12 talking about the book and his favorite American destinations. Catch him for a discussion and/or book signings at these locations:

Museum of Discovery, full presentation, Thursday, August 10, at 10 a.m.

ESSE Purse Museum, reception and book signing, Friday, August 11, 5:30 p.m.

Little Rock Farmers’ Market Pavilions, book signing, Saturday, August 12, 9 a.m.
