With so much to do in Arkansas’s Ouachita National Forest, it makes sense to spend a few nights in the area as you explore. These campsites and day use areas let you set up as close to the action as possible, and are scenic and secluded to boot. Campground amenities range from primitive hike-in sites to full-featured areas with nice bathrooms and potable water. Be sure to make a reservation if you plan to use these facilities.
The Ouachita National Forest also permits dispersed camping — setting up camp anywhere in the forest, as long as you are away from established recreation areas, and more than 100 feet away from the nearest stream. Dispersed camping is primitive and fee-free. Practice Leave No Trace guidelines when camping in the Ouachitas.
