Members of the Arkansas tourism industry are gearing up to kick off the tourism season with the 36th annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism. The theme for the 2010 event is “The Scenic Route” and will be held March 7-9 in Eureka Springs at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks Conference Center. Over 600 Arkansas tourism industry professionals will join Governor Mike Beebe to assess what lies ahead for 2010.

The convention line-up boasts speakers from across the United States. “We are excited to host Governor Beebe as he addresses attendees during the Governor’s Luncheon on March 8,” said Richard Davies, executive director of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.

Following the Governor is the Salute to Partners in Parks and Partners in Tourism ceremonies. “This gives us an opportunity to recognize significant contributions to Arkansas tourism made in the preceding year by corporations, governmental agencies and individuals,” said Davies.

Other presenters include Dr. Lowell Catlett, Futurist and Regent’s Professor, New Mexico State University and Dean of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, Vickie L. Henry, CEO of Feedback Plus, Inc., and Scott Gross, CEO of T. Scott Gross and Company.

Additional sessions include topics on the Civil War Sesquicentennial and Heritage Tourism, social networking, mobile marketing, customer service, sports marketing, and tourism marketing research.

The Arkansas Hospitality Association Annual Banquet and Henry Awards provide the conference finale where members of the tourism industry are honored for their contributions.
