What to know

The “King Biscuit Time” show was broadcast from the fifth floor of the Helena National Bank Building during the 1960s. On May 25, 1965, Sonny Boy Williamson failed to appear here for the “King Biscuit Time” radio show. Disc jockey Sonny Payne dispatched drummer James "Peck" Curtis to Williamson's apartment across the street from KFFA's studio to see if he could find Williamson. When Curtis got there, he discovered that Williamson was dead and ran back to the studio to tell Payne. Officials later determined Williamson had died sometime during the early morning, Payne recalls. The KFFA studio building now houses a bank. (Driving tour only).
