Girl Scouts Love State Parks 2023: Chasing Water - a Kayaking Adventure

Lake Frierson State Park

What to know

Where did all this water come from? Water, like our scouts, goes on grand adventures. Join the park interpreter to learn about the purpose of Lake Frierson as a watershed and explore the biodiversity watersheds provide. This kayaking adventure is recommended for Cadette and Ambassador/Senior Girl Scouts. We will start with the basics of paddling and then explore around 2-miles of the lake, including Big Creek and waterfowl habitat. Recreational kayaks, paddles and lifejackets will be provided. Meet at the marina in the Lake Frierson State Park Day Use area. Bring a water bottle and sunscreen, and wear clothes that can get wet. This activity helps fulfill the Paddling badge, Water badge, and Eco Trekker/Explorer badges. Payment and registration are required prior to this event at the visitor center. Please call (870) 932-2615 or visit before 5 p.m. on Monday, September 4 to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 15 participants and is first-come, first-serve.
