At just over 20,000 acres, the St. Francis is known for the diversity of its plant and animal life; features a variety of the finest bottom-land hardwoods in the country, which makes it especially beautiful in autumn.. Bear Creek and Storm Creek Lake Recreation Areas provide camping, picnicking, fishing. Crowley's Ridge National and Great River Road Scenic Byways run through the forest. Horner's Neck Lake is a popular spot for boating, canoeing and kayaking.
