Mike Compton and Joe
Newberry, masters of old-time mandolin and banjo/guitar,
dig deep into early country and traditional American music. Their duet-singing,
two-man string band ranges between traditional songs, instrumentals and some
original tunes. Mike Compton is a Grammy award winner, IBMA Mandolin Player of
the Year nominee, a steady sideman for John Hartford from 1994 until Hartford’s
death in 2001. Joe Newberry is a Missouri native and was a frequent guest on
Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. Joe won the songwriting prize for
“Gospel Recorded Performance” at the 2012 IBMA Awards for his song Singing as
We Rise.
Evening show tickets
are $12. Doors open for evening shows at 6 p.m. with
local musicians opening the concert at 7 p.m. Buy your TICKETS here.
This artist/band will perform live during an evening music show in
Ozark Highlands Theater from 7 -9 p.m. and at the Blacksmith Stage in
the Craft Village from 2 - 3 p.m. Combo passes include a ticket to the Feature Concert,
Matinee Show, and an all-day pass to the artisan Craft Village at the Ozark Folk Center State Park for $19.50.
