I am a retired RN home health nurse, now working as a living history interpreter at the Ozark Folk Center Shannon Cabin Homestead. While at the homestead, I do old fashion hand embroidery or beading with Job’s Tears seeds when I’m not talking with visitors about the way of life in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
I live outside Cave City, Arkansas with my wonderful husband David, who has always been willing to try any wild foods and mushrooms I cook. Mushrooms have become my new passion. I enjoy hunting, photographing and cooking with them.
I enjoy gardening and anything that has to do with herbs. I use herbs in cooking, cleaning and medicine. I enjoy walking and hiking and looking at plants and hunting wild edibles.
I am President of the Herb Society of America-Ozark Unit headquartered here at the Ozark Folk Center, where I volunteer in the Folk Mountain Kids Garden. I am a member of the Arkansas Mushroom and Fungi Association. I attend Evening Shade First Baptist Church where I work with the Women’s Mission Union and other church activities.
