Arkansas' Land of Legends Travel Association promotes four counties in the state, including Cleveland, Grant, Jefferson and Lincoln counties. Cleveland County is home to Rison, and the Cleveland County Courthouse, a stately building where you can study the architecture of another era. Filled with history and distinction, the courthouse has been declared a landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In Jefferson County, you'll find Pine Bluff with a culmination of a rich, historic past and the many opportunities that lie ahead for residents of Southeast Arkansas. One of the largest cities in the state, Pine Bluff continues to nurture a growing industrial community while preserving the small town qualities that make Southern living so rewarding. Pine Bluff’s past is depicted in a variety of museums and historic homes, as well as the exceptional collection of murals located throughout downtown. Grant County visitors know they are in timber county by the vast areas of pine trees that surround the streams and forests that provide great fishing and hunting for the sports enthusiast. Major events include the Grant County Fair & Rodeo, held annually in September, and Timberfest, the hearty timberland festival where the finest talents in the area are showcased. The event occurs on the first weekend of October every year. You can head to Star City in Lincoln County, cradled by the mighty Arkansas River and bisected by Bayou Bartholomew, the longest bayou in the world, Lincoln County is rich in agriculture and heritage; Star City is home to many structures listed on the National Register of Historical Places, including the courthouse and Joslyn-Carder Historic Town Square.
