Arkansas Rock 'N' Roll Highway 67 Marker – Current River Beach

Current River Beach was a gathering place for young people in northeast Arkansas for decades. A large enclosed wooden pavilion with a dance floor where live entertainment performed regularly from the 1930s until the 1970s was located here. In the ‘50s and ‘60s early Rock and Roll entertainers would play a circuit from the clubs south of Pocahontas to local venues including Current River Beach. Some who played here during that exciting era when rock and roll was young included Bill Black, Narvel Felts, Ace Cannon, Willie Mitchell, and Booker T and the MGs.
