While still residents of Lake Forest, Ill., a suburb of and short commute from Chicago, the couple took a long weekend off to golf in Hot Springs Village, Ark. When they saw its scenic setting, the appeal of big city life immediately lost its luster.
“It was our first extended stay in Arkansas and it was literally life-changing,” Randy said. “The natural beauty of The Village, located in the foothills of the Ouachita National Forest, reminded me of Lake Tahoe and North Carolina’s high country.”
This experience, coupled with a desire to escape the harsh Chicago winters, spawned a grand idea: make a move down south. The Lunds spent more than three years looking until Donna found their dream home on Lake Balboa in Hot Springs Village.
Today, Randy continues to telecommute from home while Donna spends much of her time volunteering. They both have taken advantage of the variety of amenities offered throughout Hot Springs Village, and have discovered that while the location is important, it’s the people who count.
“It’s not where you live, but you who meet,” Donna said,” and the folks here in Hot Springs Village are fabulous.”
