Cherokee Style Flat Reed Basket Workshop

Lake Dardanelle State Park

What to know

Cherokees are skilled weavers who began moving to this area as early as 1700s and continued to move through the area during the Trail of Tears. They used river cane and oak splits to create beautiful baskets. Join a park interpreter in the Lakeview Room and learn to weave a Cherokee style flat reed basket. This will be a hands-on workshop with limited space (pre-registration is required). The registration fee covers the cost of materials. Come prepared to get a little wet and watch your basket take shape before your eyes.
