Centennial Day of Service: Plantation Agriculture Museum
Plantation Agriculture Museum
What to know
Barn owls were once a common sight on farms, especially in the flat marshy land of the Mississippi alluvial plain. However, over time, their population has decreased. These owls were of great help to farmers, especially those who grew grains, as they protected the crop from rats. Plantation Agriculture Museum hopes to honor the relationship between barn owls and farmers throughout history by providing homes to this critical Delta bird species by creating and installing barn owl nest boxes on the museum grounds. Join park staff to construct these nest boxes that will be installed in various locations around the park to invite barn owls to join our flock. #ARStateParks100
