Girl Scouts Love State Parks 2022: We Love Trees!
Village Creek State Park
What to know
Today we will provide an array of self-guided tree-loving activities. Scouts can collect needed items, maps, and instructions in the meeting room located by the visitor center. Choose your own adventure(s) out of the following tree-themed programs:
Make Like A Tree and Leaf: Village Creek State Park is home to many trees that are unique to Arkansas. Go on a scavenger hunt to find these special trees and use their fallen leaves to create the furry and feathery critters that call Village Creek State Park their home. This activity works towards the Outdoor Art Maker badge.
Where Trees Lead Us: A lone tree in the park can be a scout’s greatest tool. Measure and graph the leaves of trees and use your data to determine direction. This activity completes part 2 of the Cadette Trees badge.
Remembering Big Ben: Your name has an impact in the park. Hike the Big Ben Trail, learn about the tree behind the trail's name, and how YOU make a difference to the trees along the trail. This activity fulfills the Daisy Eco Learner, Cadette Eco Trekker, and part 4 of the Cadette Trees badges.
DiversiTREE: The trees you find at Village Creek State Park are as diverse as the Girl Scouts and other guests that visit the park. Tune in to trees in a scavenger hunt for a diversity of shapes along the Arboretum trail. This activity works towards the Daisy Math in Nature 1 badge.
Hide and Seek with Trees: A hidden world of objects can be found in the woods. In this game, scouts are given a mystery box of items that can be found along the Arboretum trail. It is amazing what you can find on the trail if you look a little closer. This activity works towards the Brownie Outdoor Adventurer badge.

Compete with friends to learn the names of the trees in Village Creek State Park. Will your team run to the right leaf and win the game? Good shoes are recommended for this activity. This activity fulfills part 1 of the Cadette Trees badge.
