Day camps “RULE” this June

June is always a great month in the Arkansas Delta…but this June, it’s the perfect time to head to an Arkansas State Park for some awesome day camps.
At Lake Chicot State Park in Lake Village, it’s the Delta Discovery Day Camp on June 12-16. The camp starts at 9 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m. each day, and is open to youngsters ages 7-14. Activities include guided hikes, lake tours, recreational activities and nature crafts. To learn more, contact the park at 870-265-5480.
Paddle into summer camp as Lake Poinsett State Park in Harrisburg offers the Aquatic Adventure Day Camp for kids ages 7-13 on June 13-15. Campers will discover the myriad of wonders that dwell beneath the waters of Lake Poinsett, the largest lake on Crowley’s Ridge. Topics range from identifying different fish, discovering why a watershed is important, and investigate different ways to navigate a lake. Cost is $50 per camper. Parkin Archeological State Park in Parkin hosts a Children’s Day Camp on June 21-23. Campers, ages 8-13, will learn more about American Indian lifeways. All activities, including swimming, games and crafts, will relate to life of the average prehistoric Mississippian kids. The $75 fee includes meals, equipment rentals, and admission to area parks and attractions. For more information, phone 870-755-2500.
It’s an Outdoor Adventure Day Camp at Village Creek State Park in Wynne on June 26-28. For kids ages 7-10, the camp includes a variety of educational and recreation programs designed to get campers outside to discover the wonders of the natural world.
