History, music and fun highlight June in the Arkansas Delta

June is a great time to head to the Arkansas Delta for fun events for the entire family.
On June 6, 1864, the last major Civil War battle in Arkansas was fought in Chicot County. Join the staff of Lake Chicot State Park in Lake Village for the Battle of Ditch Bayou commemoration on June 3. The battle between Union and Confederate soldiers took place just south of Lake Chicot. The park interpreter will lead several presentations and discussions regarding the historic battle and the effect the Civil War had on Chicot County.
Head to Wynne on June 8-10 for the 41st annual Farm Fest. The family-friendly festival features a variety of food vendors, great activities for the entire family, live entertainment, carnival rides and the 9th annual Delta Smoke BBQ Contest.
It’s back and better than ever! Portfest returns to Jacksonport State Park in Jacksonport on June 9-10. The new festival format includes 14 tribute bands over two days, ranging from tributes to Taylor Swift, Pink, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, KISS and more. The event also features “vendor villages” focusing on hunting/fishing, agriculture, and arts and crafts.
Arkansas State University Museum in Jonesboro hosts the 5th annual TinkerFest on June 24. Part of the nationwide “Maker Movement,” TinkerFest is an engaging event where participants learn how everyday things work and explore the engineering and science of invention.
