June is Major Concert Month in Central Arkansas

Like music? Then you’ll love the month of June in Central Arkansas. You can choose from pop (Bruno Mars), big band (The Glenn Miller Orchestra), legendary rockabilly (Sonny Burgess and the Pacers) and headline country (Blake Shelton).

On June 10, Bruno Mars’ Moonshine Jungle World Tour lands in North Little Rock’s Simmons Bank Arena. You can expect to hear tunes from his latest hit album “Unorthodox Jukebox.”  Also on the docket is rapper, singer, songwriter and musician Aloe Blacc. Ticket prices are $67.50, $79 and $99 and are available through Ticketmaster. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

The timeless sounds of the Big Band Era will be in Little Rock on June 16 as the legendary Glenn Miller Band appears at the Robinson Center Music Hall in downtown Little Rock.  You’ll hear some of Miller’s enduring classics such as “In the Mood,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “At Last” which will either start your toes to tapping, or swaying to the melodies of “Moonlight Serenade,” “Tuxedo Junction” and “String of Pearls” among others.  The two-hour 8 p.m. performance by 20 musicians and singers is directed by the new leader of the group, Nick Hilsher. Tickets are $37 and $52 plus taxes and charges and can be ordered through Ticketmaster.

Arkansas native and rockabilly trailblazer, Sonny Burgess and his Legendary Pacers, will celebrate Burgess’ 85th birthday on June 20 with an Arkansas Sounds concert. The Ron Robinson Theater in downtown Little Rock is where the celebration takes place.  In addition to the Pacers, other performers include Rodney Block, Bonnie Montgomery, Kevin Kerby, and Brad Williams and Nick Devlin of the Salty Dogs.  Tickets, which are $10 general admission, are available at the Butler Center Galleries, 201 President Clinton Avenue.
