This Weekend in the Arkansas Delta

It’s the first full weekend in June, and there are some great family-friendly events happening in eastern Arkansas!

Portfest in Newport is known for music and fireworks, and this year is no exception. Held along the banks of the White River at Jacksonport State Park on June 5-7, Portfest features carnival fun for the entire family and live music on Friday night. Saturday’s events include a large carnival, activities for children, a bass tournament and arts and crafts and live music. Saturday evening concludes with a fireworks extravaganza. This year’s headliners are Blackfoot and the Marshall Tucker Band on Friday, June 6, and Sammy Kershaw on Saturday, June 7. 

Celebrate Des Arc’s river heritage during the 29th annual Steamboat Days on June 5-7! This year’s event features live entertainment on Friday and Saturday, a crawfish eating contest, activities just for kids, a car show, arts and crafts, a 5K run, a carnival and more. 

Harrisburg hosts the 17th annual Festival on the Ridge on June 7. The family-friendly festival features live music throughout the day, a horseshoe tournament, food and craft vendors and activities just for the kids. 

Village Creek State Park in Wynne offers Family Fun Day on June 7. The event is a day of outdoor adventures throughout the park. Visitors of all ages can enjoy kayak tours, hikes and geocaching challenges.
