Junior Fishing Derby

Kids, grab your lucky fishing rod and join park interpreters for your chance to reel in a “lunker.” The pond will be stocked with hundreds of catfish just for this junior fishing event. Children ages 12 and under are eligible to participate. Participants need to bring their own bait and tackle (one rod per participant), and while parents/adults may assist, the kids must do the fishing! Don’t forget a stringer for your fish. While there will be no prizes or trophies for the fish reeled in, participants will have the chance to take home up to five fish each for their own family fish fry! This event is all about getting the next generation excited about and engaged in fishing. All participants must register upon arrival. There is no charge for the event.
