First Day Hikes

Poison Springs Battleground State Park

What to know

We are pleased that so many people have made First Day Hikes an annual tradition! It is exciting for Arkansas to be such a strong participant in this nationwide event occurring in all 50 state park systems. First Day Hikes are focused on healthy habits and lifelong memories. (Note: A few park locations are closed on the January 1 holiday but will be open for January 2nd. Visit the online calendar for specific parks to find out more about each park’s detailed plans.)

Hikers are encouraged to log their completed hikes and miles (that take place in State Parks on those days) at https://www.arkansasstateparks.com/first-day-hikes

We are excited to discover how many hikers cover how many miles in our State Parks that weekend!

The Poison Springs Natural Trail is approximately 1/4-mile-long and is open from sunrise to sunset.

Poison Springs State Park does not have a visitor center, but brochures and park maps can be obtained at the White Oak Lake State Park visitor center, which located at 563 Highway 387 Bluff City, Arkansas, 71722, approximately 7 miles away. White Oak Lake State Park visitor center will be closed on January 1st but will be open from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. on January 2nd. #FirstDayHikes #ArStateParks
