Director’s Discussion with Murphy Visiting Theatre Director Daryl Phillipy

Daryl W. Phillipy is a professional actor, director, educator, and playwright with more than 25 years of professional theatre experience. He is a Professor of Theatre at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, a position which he has held for the last thirteen years. Phillipy has received directing awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for the productions of Master Harold…and the Boys, and the original devised work Cirque Depravité. He is a certified Meisner technique teacher and has spent many seasons with Stage Door Manor Performing Arts Training Center. His performance experience includes work on stages across the country, as well as performances in the two films Star Light and The Silent Natural. As a playwright, two of his plays, Bound by Blood and The Ballad of Danny and Bea, were produced as part of the Bluegrass New Play Festival in Lexington, Kentucky. Phillipy received his MFA in Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998.
