Historic Recycling and Rag Dolls
Lower White River Museum State Park
What to know
In the early days of Arkansas, it was important to use and reuse the materials you had because it was usually difficult to get more. A great example of this historic "recycling" is with rag dolls. Leftover scraps of fabric were used to make these popular toys for pioneer children. At Lower White River Museum State Park, we are going to learn more about how people in the 1800s found creative uses for their leftover materials and how they made rag dolls. Materials will be provided.
