Old Town Lake Kayak Tour
Delta Heritage Trail State Park
What to know
Old Town Lake is a well known landmark on Delta Heritage Trail. Here is your chance to join a park interpreter on a easy flat-water guided kayak tour of the lake. Paddle through a maze of bald cypress trees as we discover the secrets of the natural world the lake provides for us. While the lake is a popular fishing destination today, it and the surrounding region has been important from the earliest American Indians to occupy the area, as a steamboat landing location, and as a source of wood products. Join us in our float as we get a sense of the ways different people through time have viewed the lake as we become another in the long history of people to experience Old Town Lake.
We will meet at the visitor center at 12:45 p.m. and then travel to Old Town Lake and spend about 90 minutes on the water. No kayak experience is necessary, but you must be comfortable being on the water in a boat. Kayaks, paddles, and personal flotation devices are included with the registration fee. Six years is the minimum age for participation in this event. Preregistration is required by November 3rd and can be completed by calling the park at (870) 572-2352. Space is limited and early registration is recommended.
