Visitor Center

What to know

In the 1800s, with the Delta’s economy relying heavily on cash crops, it would common and in many ways considered normal for plantation owners to own slaves. Join a park interpreter as we delve into what the daily life of slaves in the Delta would be like. We will use WPA interviews of former slaves to provided first-hand accounts of what it was like being a slave in the Arkansas Delta.
