Have you ever wondered what the American Indians ate in ancient times? There were no chickens, pigs, or cows! What kind of meat did they eat? There was no wheat! How did they live without bread? No microwave ovens or metal pots! How did they cook their food? Archeologists wondered that, too, and have developed the fields of paleoethnobotany and experimental archeology to answer those questions. Meet Mel Zabecki from the Arkansas Archeological Survey, who will take you on a food journey from ancient grains to hunting strategies and maybe you’ll leave with an idea for a totally new menu!
