Teacher bio - Jennifer Whitman joined the Craft Village at the Ozark Folk Center in 2017. It wasn’t her first foray into sewing and quilting. She was born in Wynne and raised in Beebe and had learned to sew as a child. One of her personal treasures is a quilting frame - the old style that lowers from the ceiling – which she inherited from her grandmother. At 19, Whitman was married and starting a family at which time she started making baby quilts. She has made lots of quilts since. Now she is making baby quilts for her grandchildren, the latest a charm quilt.
As a craft interpreter at OFC, Whitman worked in gardening and the fiber arts, print, and basket shops in addition to the quilt shop. She explained, “I like variety!” and she enjoys the camaraderie of the Craft Village.
