Lake Charles is a 645-acre impoundment constructed by the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission in the 1960s. A state park, offering camping, picnic sites, hiking trails, pavilion, playgrounds, launch ramp and sandy beach, was dedicated in 1967. Park programs include lake tours and guided kayak adventures.
Fishing: Bass, catfish, bluegill and crappie are popular catches on Lake Charles. For park information, call 870-878-6595.
