Ladies' Aid Societies
Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park
What to know
During the Civil War, preparation for battle and support for soldiers didn’t just occur in camps and military headquarters. Throughout the North and South, women on the home front busily collected vital supplies to aid in the war effort. Meet a member of the local Ladies’ Aid Society as she prepares a soldier’s aid box to send to troops. She will explain her organization’s work, the supplies they needed, and the difference they made in their communities.
