Summer Solstice Celebration

Visitor Center

What to know

Over 1,000 years ago, the Plum Bayou Culture built this unique mound complex for ceremonial activities that may have included games, feasts, and other special celebrations. Celebrate the arrival of summer with an array of hands-on opportunities and learn about Native American culture with your whole family. Beginning at 6 p.m., try your hand at using primitive style weapons and take home a native style arrowhead necklace. Following, at 7 p.m., there will be a special guided sunset tour of the prehistoric mound site. The evening will conclude with the observation of the sunset over Mound B.
