Thursdays at 3: Woven in Time

Plum Bayou Mounds Archeological State Park

What to know

Join a park interpreter every Thursday in July to explore American Indian crafts. On July 11, you’re invited to learn to make woven reed mats that are both simple and beautiful. Nearly 1,000 years ago, the Plum Bayou people built the mounds using just one basket load of soil at a time. Today, we can honor their hard work by learning to weave using basket making tools and materials. This program is recommended for adults and children 10 and up, all materials are provided.

Space is limited. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is not required.
