Backyard Bird Count
Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources
What to know
What does a dark-eyed junco eat? Where does a northern cardinal build its nest? This weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count. Let's explore the Oil Park to discover what birds call South Arkansas home this time of year. We will keep a count of the different kinds that we find. In addition to the birds that call this area home all year, some migratory species also come here for the winter, which makes this season an especially exciting time for birding. After the walk, tinker with recycled materials to build a bird feeder, which can help our feathered friends through the cold months. You may bring your own binoculars and field guide. Please call (870) 725-2877 to reserve a place and if you have any questions.
