Let's Make Butter
What to know
Come to the museum to learn the history of butter making that will connect us to the past. The Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources in south Arkansas tells the story of how the 1920s oil boom brought many people not only wealth, but a very rich culture of being self – sufficient. Can you imagine a town the size of El Dorado, where many people still had barns with cows to use for milk and butter? During this time, churning butter was a common chore for both young boys and girls, while parents were concerned with making a living during the oil boom era. During the presentation, you will be allowed to view an actual churn and see another on our ever-famous Boomtown Street. Next, do an activity where you will make your very own tasty butter with supplied materials in half the time and less work.
In the event of rain, the program may be moved to another outside location or rescheduled for a later date.
