Tinkering for Tots: Toys of the Oil Boom
What to know
Building blocks and electric trains. Bicycles and yo-yos. Back during the 1920s oil boom in south Arkansas, children played with some of the same toys that children play with today, but they also had some different toys. Explore the story of the 1920s oil boom and how the wealth generated by the boom brought opportunities to buy different products, such as new toys. See some of these toys on the museum's Boomtown Street exhibit gallery. Then, make your own toy using recycled materials.
