Arkansas Travel Workers Rally – Tuesday, May 10th at 11 a.m.
The State Tourism Office brings travel workforce and supporters together during 28th annual National Travel and Tourism Week to shine spotlight on travel’s impact on local employment, economy
Who: Travel industry workers – many wearing red – representing key businesses in Arkansas’s hospitality community will join:

- Scott Sudduth, Arkansas Hospitality Association
What: Rallies in more than 50 destinations across the nation will take place on May 10.
Travel Rally Day showcases the economic and employment impact created from spending by leisure and business visitors. The jobs of Arkansas’s hospitality workforce are supported by the vital economic activity created by travel.
When: Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
Where: Arkansas State Capitol -- outdoors on the front steps. In case of rain, meet in the upper level of the Capitol Rotunda.
Why: Travel Rally Day is a key activity of National Travel and Tourism Week, which takes place from May 7-15.Travel and tourism is one of America’s largest employers, among the top 10 in 48 states and the District of Columbia. In Arkansas, 58,336 workers are employed or supported by travel and tourism and receive $1 billion in wages and salaries.
During 2010, visitors to Arkansas totaled 22,770,435. These travelers spent an average of $240 per trip, resulting in $5.5 billion in total travel expenditures, $285 million in state taxes, and $104 million in local taxes.
