Imagine The Beatles playing in concert with a symphony orchestra. What would that have sounded like? Find out for yourself when Jim Owen (John Lennon), Tony Kishman (Paul McCartney), John Brosnan (George Harrison) and Chris Camilleri (Ringo Starr) perform over 30 classic tunes live with the South Arkansas Symphony during the Classical Mystery Tour-A Tribute to The Beatles Sept. 10 in El Dorado. Join park staff at the James Black Forge, home of the Bowie knife, for a hands-on class covering the basic operations of blacksmithing during an Introduction to Forging Workshop. The event takes place Sept. 10-11 at Historic Washington State Park in Washington. Materials and tools are supplied. Register by submitting a nonrefundable deposit of $25 to the park. Guitarist David Burgess performs a multicultural show during 500 Years of Spanish Music in the Americas Sept. 11-26 in Hope at the Paul W. Klipsch Auditorium. Performances include Spanish music from the time of Columbus, Inca Indian melodies, Argentine tango, Brazilian sambas and Caribbean merengues. The Ouachita County Fair is Sept. 13-17 in Camden. This annual county fair has a carnival, livestock shows and a contest for fares such as "best jellies." An agricultural expo features the best produce grown in the county. For more information call 870-836-6426.

The 67th annual Four States Fair & Rodeo is Sept. 16- 25 in Texarkana at the Four States Fairgrounds. The annual event has a PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) rodeo, concerts, exhibits, carnival rides, and more. Rodeo nights are Wednesday, the 21st, through Saturday, the 24th. The 3rd annual Outdoor Expo & Fall Festival is Sept. 24 in Nashville at Nashville City Park. Activities include an archery competition, hunting/retrieving dog demonstrations, a B.B. gun shoot, hayrides, live music and more. For more information call 870-845-7405.

An Outdoor Living Series Weekend: Survival and Navigation is Sept. 17-18 in Bluff City at White Oak Lake State Park. The weekend starts on Saturday with a Survival Workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop costs $35. The next day learn about navigation in the wilds with a beginner GPS (global positioning system) workshop using hand held GPS units. Bringing your own unit to practice is suggested but not required. Pickin' in the Park is Sept. 19-25 in Bluff City at White Oak Lake State Park. Come out and play great tunes. If you don't like to play, you're welcome to sit around and listen. The Dallas County Fair is Sept. 21-24 in Fordyce at the Dallas County Fairgrounds. The event includes exhibits, a livestock show, and more. Located in Dallas County, which was established in 1845, Fordyce is in the south-central part of the state. Four major railroad lines were constructed in the county beginning in 1881. These lines spurred the development of many new towns. The Cotton Belt line was constructed throughout the southeast part of the county, leading to the development of Fordyce a year later.
