White Hall will host Founder’s Day with events each Saturday in August. White Hall Trade Days, a citywide yard sale, will be held on Aug. 1. The Miss White Hall Pageant will be held on Aug. 7-8. The White Hall Founder’s Day Golf Tournament, an annual two-man scramble, will take place on Aug. 15. August 22 is the day for the White Hall Founder’s Day Parade, starting at 10 a.m. Festivities after the parade include live entertainment, a breakfast, a car show, an ice cream eating contest, a skate board competition, and vendors, all located at White Hall City Park. Arkansas Post Museum in Gillett will host two programs in August focusing on the pioneer lifestyle. On Aug. 8 the museum will host Life in 1877: A Woman's Perspective, a workshop exploring the life of pioneer women living on the Arkansas Grand Prairie. On Aug. 22, the museum will feature an Old-Fashioned Wash Day program, demonstrating the authentic techniques of hand washing and line-drying clothes during the 19th century. Jonesboro Parks and Recreation will host the XTERRA Iron Will & Off Road Duathlon at Craighead Forest Park in Jonesboro on Aug. 9. The triathlon features a half-mile swim, a 10.6-mile mountain bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. The event is part of the XTERRA National Point Series and is a USAT sanctioned race. Crowley’s Ridge State Park in Paragould will host a Bat House Workshop on Aug. 15. Learn how bats can actually be beneficial to your yard and the ecosystem.
