Parkin Archeological State Park in Parkin will host an Advanced Craft Gourd Workshop on Dec. 5. Participants will learn to decorate a gourd with an intricate design and how to make a pine needle basket gourd. No prior experience is necessary to enroll in the workshop. Celebrate the holiday season as it was observed over a century ago as the Lower White River Museum State Park in Des Arc hosts Christmas at the Museum on Dec. 5-6. Warfield Concerts in Helena-West Helena will host ‘Tis the Season on Dec. 6. Presented by the Helena Little Theater and the Phillips Community College/University of Arkansas Fine Arts Department, the event features songs and carols that make the season special. ‘Tis the Season will be performed at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Lily Peter Auditorium on the Phillips Community College/University of Arkansas campus. The Fowler Center at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro welcomes The Blind Boys of Alabama on Dec. 8. The award-winning gospel ensemble has recorded over 20 albums and continues to tour and perform throughout the world. Spend the evening paddling your cares away as Cane Creek State Park in Star City hosts a Sunset Kayak Tour on Dec. 19. Participants will take to the picturesque lake for a guided tour, all the while enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. No experience is necessary to take part, but participants should be comfortable around water. Cost of the kayak tour is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under, and the price includes use of the kayak, paddle, and lifejacket. Blytheville’s Arkansas Aeroplex is the site of the 14th annual Lights of the Delta through Dec. 29. With six million lights and 36 major motion displays on 40 acres, Lights of the Delta is one of the largest lighting festivals in the mid-south. Hayrides are available each night. Pine Bluff lights up for the 13th annual Enchanted Land of Lights and Legends nightly through Dec. 31. Located within the Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Regional Park, the Enchanted Land of Lights and Legends features over 140 lighted vignettes, many of which are animated. The award-winning event, which opened on Nov. 17, is one of Arkansas’s largest drive-thru holiday light displays. Admission is free but donations are accepted.
