The 19th Annual Central Arkansas Antique Power Show takes place April 9-10 in Sheridan at the Courthouse Square. The show includes antique tractors and engines on display, food, crafts, and live music. The event is organized by the Central Arkansas Antique Machinery & Historical Society. Washington hosts Park Day April 10 at Historic Washington State Park. Join park staff and volunteers to work on special cleanup and preservation projects throughout town. Have you ever wondered what you could eat out in the woods if you got lost? McNeil hosts Edible Plants of Logoly State Park April 10 to answer these questions. During the workshop participants embark on a two-mile walk around Spring Branch Trail. Emphasis will be on the plants, their names (common and scientific), and the identifying characteristics of each plant. Workshop fees ($25) cover handouts and a book. Pre-registration is required. Join Laura Rogers, Regional Education Coordinator for Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, April 12 in Smackover at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources to learn about Arkansas mammals during Nature Quilting Class: Backyard Mammals. At the conclusion of the 9-month class, participants make a quilt to be displayed at the museum in August. Contact the museum for further details. For more information call 870-725-2877.

Catch a glimpse of a time when brother fought against brother during Civil War Supper April 17 in Washington at Historic Washington State Park. Visitors are served a meal Civil War style and enjoy the fare of a soldier, who may eat well one day and go without food the next. After the meal visitors participate as refugees from Camden in 1864 and visit town sites and a Confederate picket line. Reservations are required. The 30th Annual Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Festival takes place April 19- 24 in Fordyce at the Courthouse Square. The city wide celebration of the town's heritage features entertainment, food, a parade, model trains, a rodeo, a 5K race, a car show, arts and crafts, a quilt show and the Redbug Reunion Rally. Have you ever wondered what your great-grandparents used for a cough or fever? Logoly State Park in McNeil hosts Medicinal Plants of Logoly State Park April 24. At the workshop, participants go on a guided hike on trails of the park while an interpreter explains about the plants seen along the trail. Emphasis will be on the plant names, characteristics of the individual plants, and the uses of the plant. Workshop fees ($25) cover a book and handouts for each participant. Hear Carmina Burana April 24 in El Dorado at the South Arkansas Symphony. A combined choir of over 200 voices and full orchestra perform at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium.
