The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) in El Dorado will host the artwork of Arkansas artists Teri Callaway and Kelly Phelps from Jan. 4-29. An artist's reception will take place on Jan. 9 from 6-8 p.m. SAAC provides monthly gallery exhibits featuring local, regional and nationally acclaimed artists, an annual season of community theatre productions, visual arts classes for children and adults, photography, ballet, music, and drama. It also provides Artists-in-Education in area schools. The center’s 22,500-square-foot facility houses three art galleries, a ballet studio, a 206-seat theatre, a scene and costume shop, a photography studio, educational classroom space, and an open studio for artists. The 9th annual African American Voice is set for Jan. 14 in Texarkana at the Historic Regional Arts Center. The event hosts some of the finest African-American performing artists in a four-state region. The Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council and the African-American Advisory Committee are presenting the event. More information can be found at www.trahc.org.

Justice is served at the Trial by Jury Dinner Jan. 16 at Historic Washington State Park in Washington. After enjoying an evening meal at Williams’ Tavern Restaurant, participants will proceed to the 1836 Courthouse where they will take part in a living history drama and judge the guilt or innocence of a man accused of murder. The drama is based on an actual 1844 trial that took place in the same courtroom. Participants can dress casual or wear their favorite 19th century costume. From the movies "Dick Tracy" and Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" to Carnegie Hall and the Democratic National Convention, a cappella masters Take 6 have covered a lot of territory. The group is now headed to Arkansas and is scheduled to perform in Texarkana on Jan. 29 at the Historic Perot Theatre. The group, which glides from gospel to doo-wop, jazz, hip-hop, pop, blues, and soul, has won 10 Grammys and 10 Doves. More information about the show can be found at www.perottheatre.org.
