The Impeding Crisis-Natural State Chautauqua is June 2-4 at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources in Smackover. The Natural State Chautauqua focuses on events leading up to the Civil War. Each night a different character presents a first person interpretation of the life of an influential person during these years of expansion and disunion from 1820-1860. A question and answer session with speakers, both in and out of character, allows participants the opportunity to get answers from those that were "there." The event is free. The 25th annual Chicken and Egg Festival is June 4 in Prescott at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Activities include rock wall climbing, tennis, basketball, softball, crowing contest, and more. Details can be found at 870-887-2101.

The 55th annual Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival is June 4-11 in Warren. The festival is at the Bradley County Court Square and features a parade, an All-Tomato Luncheon, a street dance, arts and crafts, a tomato eating contest, a 5K race, and more. The 40th annual Oil Town Festival is June 15-18 in Smackover at City Park. The family festival hosts free concerts every night, horseshoe pitching, arm wrestling, watermelon eating, a turtle race, bingo, a dog show, rod wrenching, a drill bit toss, a rib cook-off, a 5K Oil Run, and the world famous yellow duck race down No Name Creek. Join the fun as two-person teams from around the state come together for a day of fishing at Moro Bay State Park in Jersey on June 18 during the Perch Jerk Classic. The 22nd annual PurpleHull Pea Festival & World Championship Rotary Tiller Race is June 24-25 in Emerson. The free event celebrates purplehull peas and hosts the world's fastest garden tillers. The lineup includes the Great PurpleHull Peas & Cornbread Cook-Off, the World Cup PurpleHull Pea Shelling Competition, the Million Tiller Parade, and the Pea-Stompin' Street Dance. Showdown at Sunset is June 25 in El Dorado. Enjoy this historical reenactment of the legendary Marshal Tucker-Parnell Brothers gunfight that took place in historic Union Square.
