Archeological Excavation Self-Guided Tours

Saturday, May 30 - Sunday, June 7 - Plum Bayou Mounds Archeological State Park will host an archeological excavation during the first two weeks of June, and you're invited! Visit the park between the hours of 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. to see open excavation units as archeologists investigate three locations on the site. Begin at the visitor center to receive a self-guided brochure. The trail will lead you to roped off areas where you can view the excavation units. While you're here, you can talk to park staff and archeologists, see the artifacts found, and gain a better understanding of the prehistoric people who lived here. If you prefer to tour the archeological site and excavations with a guide, see additional calendar entries for guided tours and other programs related to the excavation. Call the park at (501) 961-9442 for more information.
